The Town of Ituna - The town of Ituna is located in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, approximately 55 km northwest of Melville. It is situated on the intersection of Highways 15 and 310. The town has a population of 709 according to the most recent census.
Ituna has a rich history dating back to the 1880s and 1890s, when the first settlers began to make their way into the area. In the early 20th century, a wave of British immigrants arrived and began to establish homesteads in the district. The construction of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway through the region in 1907-08 brought further development to the area, including an influx of Ukrainian settlers who contributed to the town's cultural heritage.
The Ituna post office was established in 1909 and the town was incorporated in 1910. Ituna quickly grew to become the major distribution and service center for the surrounding agricultural district. In 1966, the town reached its peak population of 975.
Agriculture remains the mainstay of Ituna's economy, with two grain companies and numerous trucking services handling agricultural exports. The district is home to a variety of crops, as well as cattle and hog operations. The town's location in the heart of rich farmland makes it an important hub for the agriculture industry in Saskatchewan.
